The Jackson Hole Professional Firefighters IAFF Local #5067 have endorsed Teton County Commissioner candidate Luther Propst.

Local #5067 is a non-profit group formed to represent the health, safety, and interests of Jackson Hole firefighters and the citizens they are sworn to protect. They are cross-trained, dual-role firefighters, EMTs, and paramedics that provide much of Teton County’s 911 response for both fires and medical emergencies.

“I am most grateful for the endorsement of the Jackson Hole Professional Firefighters,” Propst said. “As a candidate for county commissioner, I share the same goals of protecting the safety of the public for all firefighters, paying fair wages and benefits to firefighters and other public employees, and making it realistic for firefighters who work in our community to have a chance to live here.”

The firefighters work a 48-hour rotating shift and staff both the downtown Jackson and Moose-Wilson Road fire stations, 24 hours a day/365 days a year.

“We endorsed Luther because from the beginning, as far back as three years ago, he reached out to us to share his support and understand our goals,” said John Tobey, Union President and Firefighter Paramedic. Tobey added that the Union is confident that Luther will work to advance public safety, maintain safe working conditions, and support fair wages and benefits for career firefighters.
